This is an announcement that I'll be taking an indefinite hiatus from music to pursue a long held dream of training to become a Buddhist monk and devoting myself to the Dhamma, the Buddha's teaching. I've been a meditator for many years and practicing Dhamma somewhat inconsistently for well over a decade. This was something I was going to do back in 2012 but ultimately decided it was too soon and should stay committed to music instead while learning more about worldly life. I've decided now is the time to take that leap and give it a go. It's going to be a massive challenge but I'm excited and ready to see if it's something that I can sustain to achieve the greatest freedom possible in this life.
This is a decision I do not take lightly and I'm well aware of how strange or disappointing my plans might sound to some but I believe you have to live this life for the opportunities that will serve the highest blessings. Music has been one of the highest blessings of my life. It is something I have served tirelessly, devotedly and diligently with everything I could give for over 25 years. It has served me very well in return and I have no regrets. I am confident that the Dhamma is an even higher blessing and I plan to serve it with the same sense of purpose and determination that I did music.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to share my musical journey with all of you. It has meant the world to me. Your support and encouragement has been a tremendous catalyst for the growth in my musicianship as well as giving me a constant room to play in. I couldn't have achieved what I have without it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there with me. I love you immensely.
